The Department for the Development of Police Education and International Cooperation is responsible for the development of police education in a very broad sense. As part of its activities, the Department ensures the positioning and integration of the Police Academy - The First Croatian Police Officer into the scientific and educational system of the Republic of Croatia. The activities of the Department include pedagogical support to trainers, instructors, teachers and training managers - from the needs analysis, planning and designing of training programmes, their implementation and evaluation.
The Department is also responsible for the development of information and communication technologies (ICT) in police education and supports trainers, instructors, teachers and training managers in their use.
In addition, a large part of the Department's activities is related to the preparation and organization of international and inter-institutional activities. This includes bilateral cooperation, cooperation with national education stakeholders, as well as the cooperation with the EU agencies - mainly European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) and European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL).
An important part of the Department's activities is strengthening psychological resilience of police officers, mainly through educational programmes. Furthermore, the Department ensures strengthening of inter-institutional cooperation through experiential and scientific approach, in order to improve common response based on the psychological knowledge and standards.
